JUNIOR SAILING PROGRAMS:
|
The
Lake Eustis Youth Sailing Foundation’s goal is
to promote the sport of sailing for the benefit of
youth in our area in an environment which stresses
safety, sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage,
self confidence, respect for authority, the environment
and our community.
The
Lake Eustis Youth Sailing Foundation offers: Year
round sail training programs for junior sailors,
age 8-18, weekends during the school months
and sail training camps during the vacations.
Advanced
junior sailors in our intermediate and advanced sailing
classes, who love to sail and want to learn more about
racing, are invited to join our JUNIOR
RACING TEAM and will
have the opportunity to participate with our Teams
in several Junior Sailing Regattas throughout Florida.
|

All
our junior sailing programs are supervised
and coached by our "US Sailing" Certified Instructors. Safety
is our first concern! That is why we
follow all of the US Sailing's safety guidelines at the
LEYSF's Junior Sailing Programs. All safety issues
are constantly monitored and safety is the foremost
prioity during the sailing lessons. All participants
in our Junior Sailing Programs must follow the LEYSF
common sense conduct and safety rules, click

LEARN
TO SAIL : The
Lake Eustis Sailing Club has a great "Learn to Sail" program
for Adults. The sail boat of choice for this “Learn to
Sail” Program
is the FLYING SCOT, as shown in the picture: The Flying Scot is
roomy and very stable, excellent for our “Learn to Sail” program,
for recreational sailing and Regatta racing. READ

-The very first Melges 17 arrived at Lake Eustis:

The new Melges 17 class is off to a great
start with many Regattas already sailed all over the U.S.! This very
high tech new Melges design might well be another great One Design
Class to further establish our sailing club for the long haul by
attracting active sailors to our 'One Design' Lake Eustis
Sailing Club and its big beautiful Lake in Central Florida.
These boats are tremendous: Very well balanced, newest materials being used,
strong and light weight, easy to sail, easy to keep upright, very fast and exiting:
This is the real thing and so easy to handle: One quick pull on a line and it
will furl the jib out of the way, (very handy for docking), couple of quick
pulls and the A symmetric spinnaker is up and the bow sprit comes out
etc. all with one line...
The Melges 17 gives the opportunity to feel the speeds of an A or E Scow
on a much more manageable and affordable platform.
The 2nd Annual Melges 17 Midwinter Regatta will be sailed right here on Lake
Eustis on March 9-11 and includes a Zenda U Sail Fast Clinic, free to all
Regattas sailors, on March 8 from 12 noon till 5 pm.
Are you a Certified Sailing Instructor willing to use your skills
in order to help teaching kids to sail? Contact : Martin
Zonnenberg at MBPZ@comcast.net . Also, it would be very much appreciated if
you as an experienced sailor would like to become involved with
junior sail training: Please be in touch!
Thanks to MC Scow and E Scow sailor Dave Moring, MC Scow Fleet
